Search
The Search Bar allows you to locate content on your server as well as other servers in your enterprise, including Stories, Rundowns, wire stories, contacts, and even discarded items in the Waste Bin.
If your site uses the Playbook planning system, this too can be queried directly from the Search Bar. See Playbook Integration for more details.
To use the search feature, enter your search terms in the box in the upper right corner of the ENPS window. Click the magnifying glass icon or press Enter to begin the search.
If you want to search for an exact phrase surround it by quotes. For example, if your search term is American Airlines your search results will contain both words. If you enter "American Airlines" in quotes your search results will only contain that exact phrase.
You can use the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT as part of your search parameters as follows:
- American NOT airlines returns items that contain the word American but that do not contain the word airlines.
- "American" OR "Southwest" returns items that contain either the word "American" or "Southwest"
- "American Airlines" AND Jamaica returns only those items that contain both the phrase "American Airlines" and Jamaica.
You can also use an asterisk as a wildcard character. If you perform a search with medic* your search results will words such as medicinal, medicine, medication, etc.
To combine a search for words in the title with a search for words in the text, use the TITLE: operator in your query, followed with the TEXT: operator. For example, to search for the text "Washington" after the "Daybook" title, you would enter the following: TITLE: Daybook TEXT: Washington
Once your search is complete you will see the relevant content displayed in a window. You can narrow down which results are displayed using the Filter box.
The filter box appears at the top of many windows in the ENPS Client. It lets you narrow down the content of the window to only items that contain the specified string in their title. If you delete the filtering term the full content will be restored to the window.
You can also re-run your last search by clicking on the folder icon in the search window. Clicking on the down arrow will let you re-run an earlier search.
You can also configure Forward Search Settings to alert you if an item arrives in the system that matches your search criteria.
When viewing search results, you can open an item's parent Rundown, Planning Grid or Storyboard by right-clicking on it.
The Search Ribbon contains additional options for configuring your search such as setting a default search, configuring a date range, and more.
