Build a MOS Repeater
A MOS Repeater is a server that reduces the load on ENPS production servers by communicating all MOS-Active Rundowns to downstream MOS StorySend targets.
A typical use is to provide multiple non-linear editing clients with stories from a Rundown that has the MOS Control Active property selected so that stories can be viewed while users are editing the media.
You cannot use the Primary or Buddy Server as a MOS Repeater.
Before You Begin
Do you need a MOS Repeater?
MOS Repeaters are often useful, but not mandatory. Contact Us for advice if you are unsure.
Designate a MOS Repeater machine with the following minimum specifications:
-
CPU with 2 cores
-
Greater than 100GB disk space
-
8 GB RAM
-
Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022 with the latest Service Packs and critical updates from Microsoft installed.
-
The MOS Repeater requires static IP addresses, not reserved DHCP IP addresses.
-
The MOS Repeater may not run any other services except SNMP.
-
The MOS Repeater cannot be an Active Directory Domain Controller.
Do not name your server 'ENPS'. Most sites use their name, for example WXXX-RPTR.
Due to a Windows limit, choose a name that does not exceed 15 characters.
The name you choose must be in ALL CAPS.
Procedure
To build a MOS Repeater server:
