What is Storytelling?

Storytelling is a web-based platform provided by AP Workflow Solutions that allows you to organize, manage, and collaborate on content such as Topics, Assignments, Stories, Rundowns, and more in a single integrated system. It provides various modules and features for editorial planning, broadcast workflows, team management, and publication processes, all through customizable views and workflows.

The high-level usage is:

  1. Select a Module.

  2. Select a Module View.

  3. Module View configures the Toolbar and Filters.

  4. Creates the View Results, showing a slice of your information in Storytelling.

For example, the following screenshot shows:

  1. The Planning module selected.

  2. The This Week view selected.

  3. Which has configured the toolbar to Tile layout, grouped/sorted by Target Publication Date, and filtered by various Publishing Desks and Target Publication Date (This Week).

  4. Which results in the slice of data shown in View Results.

The available modules are:

  • Ingest - monitor wire feeds, RSS feeds and social content, and pull items of interest directly into Planning topics

  • Planning - core editorial workflow where you organise coverage through Topics, Assignments and Stories

  • Rundowns - handle broadcast production workflows in traditional Rundowns, giving producers the tools to build, order and air a show

Key components and features include:

  • Topics: The main building blocks to organize stories, assignments, and coverage.

  • Assignments: Tasks associated with topics, such as text, photo, video, and social.

  • Stories: Pieces of content that may be tied to topics, rundowns, or stand alone.

  • Rundowns: Tools for ordering and timing stories for broadcast workflows.

  • Ingest: Integration of wire feeds, RSS, and external content for editorial use.

  • Custom Views: Methods to display, filter, and organize data specific to your needs.

  • Templates and Team Management: Tools to streamline workflows across teams.
